A Day in the Life

In my mind, I always picture summer as a vast expanse of time to spend however I please. Maybe I'll finish the four books I'm reading. Maybe I'll spend an entire day watching the Harry Potter movies, then another one watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I still can't decide.

But this is not how it goes, and thank goodness because that would be dull. So here's a taste of a day in my family. So let's start with the morning. So, how I get woken up depends on where I sleep. Downstairs, Alice jumps on the bed and stands over me menacingly. Okay it's not scary, just cute. Upstairs, either my phone plays Pitbull, my alarm clock goes off, Mom comes in telling me who is in the paper, or Alice comes to say 'hi'.

Then it's photos and editing!! This consumes most of the actual day, which brings us to the evening. Sometimes we're still editing photos- mom cooes over the cute children (and aren't they adorable??) and Dad notices the cool cars, such as this one from today:
Lately we've been playing Yahtzee in the evenings, too. This is always interesting. Alice has never heard the sound of the dice being shaken in the cup. Here's her reaction and us playing:

"Whoa! What is that??"

"I love you Georgie"
Dad rolls a Yahtzee on the first roll...
I remain unimpressed with the outcome of my dice.
This last weekend, Georgia Mae and I took photos for the Art Gala. The artists were painting the first part of the event, and then they auctioned off the paintings later in the evening. Seeing all their amazing work- If I had money, it would have been long gone- made me think that I wanted to paint! I have a set of acrylic paints that I used and bought a cheap canvas. Here are some photos of my adventure, I actually ended up painting three little canvases. The first one is my favorite.
The paint.
The canvas, painted black for dramatic effect.
The photo
The painting on my kitchen floor (of Alice).

The second painting of Stella that is not quite finished in this photo.

There is a third painting of Louise (the third doberman) but I have yet to photograph it.

I now(no kidding on the timing of all this) just heard and found little Alice drinking from the toilet (insert me yelling "No Alice, NO!" while trying hard not to scare her, just prove a point. Sounds a lot like parenting doesn't it?) And as I write this the dog who just drank from the lovely porcelain bowl in the bathroom is chewing, no, eating my slipper. Ew.

And, no kidding, she just yelped in the highest little pitch for an unknown reason. We think she bit her tongue.

Ah the chaos!

This is why I love my life.
