Brooke & Marla, part II

This was the first mother-daughter shoot we have ever done, and it was a blast. We went up the the Sluice Boxes (amazing!!) for these, and the green was so lovely! I'll be seeing you at the Harry Potter premiere, Brooke!

This is my fav :)

Brooke, you are stunning. There is no getting around that fact- check it out!

A Day in the Life

In my mind, I always picture summer as a vast expanse of time to spend however I please. Maybe I'll finish the four books I'm reading. Maybe I'll spend an entire day watching the Harry Potter movies, then another one watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I still can't decide.

But this is not how it goes, and thank goodness because that would be dull. So here's a taste of a day in my family. So let's start with the morning. So, how I get woken up depends on where I sleep. Downstairs, Alice jumps on the bed and stands over me menacingly. Okay it's not scary, just cute. Upstairs, either my phone plays Pitbull, my alarm clock goes off, Mom comes in telling me who is in the paper, or Alice comes to say 'hi'.

Then it's photos and editing!! This consumes most of the actual day, which brings us to the evening. Sometimes we're still editing photos- mom cooes over the cute children (and aren't they adorable??) and Dad notices the cool cars, such as this one from today:
Lately we've been playing Yahtzee in the evenings, too. This is always interesting. Alice has never heard the sound of the dice being shaken in the cup. Here's her reaction and us playing:

"Whoa! What is that??"

"I love you Georgie"
Dad rolls a Yahtzee on the first roll...
I remain unimpressed with the outcome of my dice.
This last weekend, Georgia Mae and I took photos for the Art Gala. The artists were painting the first part of the event, and then they auctioned off the paintings later in the evening. Seeing all their amazing work- If I had money, it would have been long gone- made me think that I wanted to paint! I have a set of acrylic paints that I used and bought a cheap canvas. Here are some photos of my adventure, I actually ended up painting three little canvases. The first one is my favorite.
The paint.
The canvas, painted black for dramatic effect.
The photo
The painting on my kitchen floor (of Alice).

The second painting of Stella that is not quite finished in this photo.

There is a third painting of Louise (the third doberman) but I have yet to photograph it.

I now(no kidding on the timing of all this) just heard and found little Alice drinking from the toilet (insert me yelling "No Alice, NO!" while trying hard not to scare her, just prove a point. Sounds a lot like parenting doesn't it?) And as I write this the dog who just drank from the lovely porcelain bowl in the bathroom is chewing, no, eating my slipper. Ew.

And, no kidding, she just yelped in the highest little pitch for an unknown reason. We think she bit her tongue.

Ah the chaos!

This is why I love my life.

Megan

This was so much fun. We went all over finding sweet places to take photos, and ended up in our favorite field full of little purple wildflowers. Megan is a landscape photog- I saw some of her photos on Facebook, and they are beautiful and funky! A lot of them were taken at night with a tripod and long exposure. Cool. Anyways, I tried to incorporate the landscape-theme into some of her senior photos, and I think it turned out pretty well. Enjoy!

Yes, I know it was father's day yesterday- but here's a preview from a mother-daughter shoot we did last week. We went up to the Sluice Boxes for it, and it was so pretty! Wow.

Katie, Matt, and Emma

Here are more photos from McGraw's three BEAUTIFUL children. They were such troopers. I remember as a little kid that getting photos taken was not nearly as fun as it is now, and they were awesome. Mrs. McGraw has been my English teacher the past two years and has been the greatest teacher anyone could ever ask for. Seriously. When the option of taking "Senior Project" came up, I signed up so I could have her as a teacher again. I could go on and on, so here's her three kids!

Hello Emma!

This is one of our coolest finds- it's this field covered in these little purple flowers. How sweet is that??

Nice work on the lovely sunspots Georgie!

Summer, here I come

So good news. Very, very good news.. I am no longer doing Summer Advantage! So what does this mean for everyone and us?? It means that I get my summer back, I can go to the Harry Potter opening (YES!), enjoy the state fair, and be here the entire month of July for photos, fun, and whatever else my heart desires within reason.

But why?

Here's the reason we opted out: so being new at this whole college thing, I was unaware that normal general education requirements (GER's) differ from the honors college requirements to graduate. The classes I would have been taking would have only filled normal GER credits, not the honors ones. You with me? In short, the credits would have been worth nothing to me, and would have cost extra money and time.

I'm so excited I get to be here and continue taking more photos this summer. I look forward to it so, so much. So that's my good news, I hope everyone else is having as great a summer as I am!

Signing off for now,
halley :)

Sorry for all the 'peeks' of shoots, we'll be posting more soon from all of them! For now, here's a shot from yesterday. I love vintage processing, and I love this girl!

Sneak Peek: Matt, Katie, & Emma

Here's a shot from yesterday- more to come from these adorable kids!

MVP part II

Here are some more photos from MVP's shoot. Georgia and I have decided that he is one of the cutest babies ever. His dad, Michael, has had some qualms about having his photo taken (he's rather camera shy), but he was a trooper for us. Thanks you guys, and nice work Geannine on getting the whole family in these shots! This was blast.

We started out at Centene Stadium where Michael used to announce the games. There was even a Stallions game being played while we were taking photos.

Stunning mom. Beautiful baby. SWEET!

We found this wall earlier that day, and I almost missed a green light staring at it! We knew that we had to use it for a shoot and soon, so we told Michael and Geannine about it, and they were game. There was a gal even painting parts of it while we were there.

I love how baby MVP is looking at Ginger the dog and vice versa..

Their two dogs, Duke and Ginger were so cooperative. I've never seen dogs stay so still for photos before! Or maybe I'm just used to puppy Alice, who knows?

Thanks again you guys!
